A Time of Renewal

Things have been slower here on Storyhelix, mainly because I’ve been adding to my family a bit. Babies tend to take away your time, or at least, they make you reorganize your priorities, so…here we are now, right?

Having kids and writing books, for me at least, are not all that different in terms of reaction. I feel like I’ve lost something and gained something, and there’s a shift in the wind, and a mood settles in, and I know, very distinctively, that a time of change has come.

It’s a change that won’t reverse itself, no matter what, and at the end of it, I am feeling like the time has come to make some changes.

In addition to the baby, I’ve finished up my master’s degree, and trying to branch out into a different career field (key word: trying). I also cut my hair, which is something I don’t do without a ton of convincing self-talks (When I was in 6th grade, my teacher had us read O. Henry’s The Gift of the Magi, and ever since, I vowed I would never cut my hair unless it was for something I truly truly loved). I do make sure I have enough to donate to Locks of Love, though.

And I have a feeling it is just going to be the beginning, too. More changes are coming. I am working on revamping up this site, and getting back to my novels. Let’s face it, you’ve all just been dying to get a hold of the next novel in my Starlight Chronicles series, right? I’ve been excited to write it myself. The theme in the book, ironically for me, is continuing commitment, even if it is hard. Something I am just not good at, not at all, really.

I am hoping to keep you updated as all these things happen. The best part of being a writer is just that no experience is wasted, and there’s a distinct appreciation for everything in some way or another.

Now, I am going to get some more coffee. It’s good to be here.
